The Past Proctors

The Proctors in Office are merely the latest in a long historical line stretching back more than 800 years. The very earliest records, from the thirteenth century, are lost (burned in the Market Square, some say, during the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381), but we do have a more or less complete record of Proctors since 1314.
